2011-2012

Right out of the chute, let me give you a big North Texas Howdy!! I’m Madison Ward, the 2011-2012 North Texas High School Rodeo Association Queen.  I am a 17 year old senior at Weatherford High School, where I am also a member, past president, and queen of the Weatherford High School Rodeo Team.  This will be my third year as a member and competitor here at North Texas, and I feel so honored to represent the organization that gave me my rodeo roots!

Since I was crowned at the 2011 finals in May, I have already had the opportunity to make several appearances at local rodeos.  And, I am excited about the coming year as I am booking many speaking engagements with area clubs (Rotary, Lions, Zonta, etc.), schools, and organizations where I can promote N.T.H.S.R.A, the sport of rodeo, and gain sponsors and scholarship opportunities for our high school rodeo athletes!  I am especially excited about appearing at and working with special rodeo kids, special olympics rodeo events, and helping Brenda Brock Mo with the Autism event in September.  Be sure to check back monthly, as I plan to add photos and updates of my activities and appearances!

This next year  promises to be full of challenge and adventure! And, my buddy RJ and I will be seeing all of you weekly in Saginaw as I compete in goat tying, barrels, poles, steer undercoating, and add a some roping events as well.  I am setting a few personal goals which include an all around and high point saddle or two!  I encourage each North Texas member to make it a goal to bring in at least one new member to our association this year, and introduce the sport of rodeo to someone new every month! It’s really not that hard to do - all they need to see is the excitement and enthusiasm on your face when you talk about rodeo, and they’ll be hooked!!

Thank you to all my friends, family, and sponsors who have helped me achieve this dream. And thank you to the great encouragement and support from our queen’s committee - Andra, Patsy, and Gerald.  I look forward to fulfilling my responsibilities and duties and setting the bar high as I represent this wonderful organization in the year to come!
