TRUCK - MISSION IMPOSSIBLE???
The
buzz around NTHSRA is "The Truck". Some feel that this is not an
attainable goal, a mission impossible. Others, including the Truck
Committee feel that this is NOT an unattainable goal but in fact....A
Mission Possible!
How, you ask? Well, the Truck Committee is working on that. Their goal
is to have a truck donated, or to be able to either purchase the truck
by selling advertisements on the truck (like NASCAR) or to at least
offset the cost by doing so. If the Truck Committee is unable to have a
truck donated, or they are only able to offset the cost of a truck with
ads, then we will need to rely on what has purchased the truck for the
last two years, the extra dollar collected at the gate from those who
pay their $5.00 to get into NTHSRA Rodeos.
Each week the host team collects $5.00 per person at the gate. One
dollar of that $5.00 is to be given back to North Texas. The Board of
Directors determined this two years ago when the Truck Giveaway was
initially introduced. The gate fee was raised to $5.00 from $4.00 and
the additional dollar collected was given back, by the host team, to
North Texas as the means in which to purchase a truck.
In the best interest of all involved, earlier this season, NTHSRA Board
of Directors voted to open a "Special Account" designated just for the
extra dollar collected from the gate fee. The purpose of this account
is to collect the money and to keep it separate and accounted for as to
what it's intent was....The Truck!!!
We ask that sponsors please remember, if you are hosting a rodeo during
the 2006-2007 season, the gate fee of $5.00 is set up so that NTHSRA
will collect $1.00 of that $5.00.
Yes, we have a mountain to climb. Yes, we have a lot of work to do.
Without all this we cannot say that a truck will be given away. But if
we stay on the course that has been set then we can say that this is....
A MISSION POSSIBLE!!!

SAFETY
FIRST!!!
The newly formed Safety Committee has been hard at work to provide the
safest possible environment for everyone here at NTHSRA. As you will
notice, the North end of the arena (by the calf pens) is no longer a
means in which to enter into the arena. Grand Entries and all events
will enter through the South end of the arena. As presented by the
Safety Committee, this is not only a safety issue regarding the
constant pedestrian vs. horseback flow of traffic, it is also a health
issue due to the fact that horses come too close in contact with our
concession stand.
Another noticeable change made in the sake of safety is the tractor.
Arena Directors will now be responsible for designating a qualified
person to drag the arena. It has been decided also that the tractor may
or can remain in the corner of the arena during barrels and poles.
We realize that some of the new changes might pose an inconvenience to
some, but all members of North Texas High School Rodeo Association and
those who enter our gates need a safe environment in which to enjoy
this sport we love so dear. This is the best possible way to ensure
everyone's safety!!!

OUR
WORK IS NEVER DONE
A special thank you is in store for our Buildings and Arena Committee.
This committee has been working tirelessly to make the much-needed
improvements to our beloved NTHSRA. Doyle Brown and his crew are here
when we are not rodeoing welding, painting, cleaning, repairing, and
even picking up rocks in the arena as time allows!
As we wind down the first half of this 2006-2007 Rodeo Season, this
committee is gathering their second wind. They have planned on several
things to work on over this break. Two designated workdays have been
set aside, December 22 and 23, 2006 at 8:00 am - ?. The Committee is
asking for any and all adults and students alike who can spare even an
hour to please come and help. There are jobs for everyone, inside and
out! If you would like to volunteer or have special skills that could
be utilized within North Texas, please contact Doyle Brown or the North
Texas Office. On that note we would also like to thank the Building and
Arena Committee for installing the new ice machine!
Things are looking brighter at North Texas High School Rodeo
Association.
