PRESIDENT'S PEN
Has anyone noticed all the awesome changes that are happening around North Texas? Our association has been so lucky to have gotten so many wonderful donations in the past few months. Please take the time to look around and notice all the improvements. Don't forget the Toy Drive that the student board is having to help out the less fortunate kids of Ft. Worth.

See ya in the arena,
Mike

And the Student Board says.....

The NTHSRA Student Board is proud to sponsor a TOY DRIVE for Cook Children's Medical Center and Toys for Tots. Cooks is a pediatric hospital in Ft. Worth that treats all children for illness and accidents from all the surrounding counties. Toys for Tots is one of the oldest Christmas charities that collects new, unwrapped toys for children all over the United States. Being a rodeo association, it would be great to stay as close to a western/farm theme as possible on the toys, but we will accept and cherish all toys donated.

Did you Know.........
Dress Code
Contestants must wear a cowboy hat, cowboy boots, western pants and a long-sleeve shirt with collar and button/snap cuffs. Shirt sleeves must be fastened. Shirttails must be tucked in whether competing or not. Contestants in Bareback riding and Bull riding will be allowed to roll one sleeve up while participating. With the exception of the photographer, medics, and bullfighters, contestants who violate this will be disqualified for that event and any other person will be fined $5.00 for each offense. Fines may be assessed by any Rodeo or Association Official and shall be paid to the rodeo secretary and sent to the Association Office. The dress code will be in effect during any portion of the rodeo. Any person in the arena is to observe the dress code starting (1) hour before each performance. Hat rule may be waived due to extreme weather conditions only by the Arena Director and sponsoring rodeo club sponsor. Rule applies per performance, not per rodeo.

COMMITTEE CONNECTIONS

Public Relations

The Public Relations Committee is proud to help the Student Board with their TOY DRIVE. We are hoping this is a Christmas to remember for everyone. We are wanting to go to Cooks as a group, dressed in our rodeo attire. This means rough stock riders in their chaps, the clowns in their attire, and the rodeo queens in their flashy shirts and crowns. We want everyone to feel welcome to go and help us pass out toys on Saturday, December 15th or Saturday, December 22nd. As soon as the date is confirmed we will post on the Home page.  Just sign up by Sunday, December 9th by 5:30 pm. A sign-up sheet will be located near the secretary's office.

BUILDING AND ARENA COMMITTEE

As you may have noticed, there are changes being made to the NTHSRA complex. These changes are made possible by some new sponsors that are now part of the North Texas family. The following individuals or companies have made donations this year.

DEVON ENERGY came on board at the 2007 finals. To date, Devon has donated $100,000 to be paid out over the next five years. But they didn't stop there. They also donated 2000 feet of pipe and 6000 fees of 3/4" sucker rode, a 500 gallon diesel tank and numerous leads on other potentional sponsors.

The next newest member of the family is STALLION OIL FIELD SERVICES who generously donated a brand-new Kubota tractor, complete with a font-end loader. With this donation, we are able to maintain our arena and are able to open it back up to members for rental.

BASIN TOOLS donated 100 gallons of diesel fuel.

McANEAR MACHINERY donated 200 more gallons and a locking valve.

COMPLETE PRODUCTIONS came through with the Micro Rain Watering System. Micro Rain discounted the price for NT.

JACK LITTLE TOTAL TANK TRUCKS AND DIAMONDBACK donated a box blade for the tractor and an air compressor for use around the entire complex.

If things are starting to look brighter, you can thank RITCHIE OIL FIELD COMPANY for donating all the labor, wire, conduit, a lift and two master electricians for two weeks.

You may have also noticed a new Dodge truck parked in front of the concession stand. It belongs to GRAPEVINE DODGE who also joined the North Texas family this year. They have signed a three-year $30,000 contract. You will find brochures and business cards inside the pavilion and they will cut a deal to any North Texas member on a new car or truck.

Thanks to MICHAEL LACKEY of LACKEY FRAMING AND CORNICE for his contributions of labor and materials for the new storage room and improvements to the announcer's booth.

Recognition needs to be made to JARRELL KEY of KEYCO PLUMBING for the countless hours he and his employees have donated to keep the water and plumbing maintained throughout the complex.

The "Building and Arena Committee" try to hold three or four work days a year and encourage everybody to come out and donate their time to help make improvements to the arena and complex. Much has been accomplished on these work days thanks to parents, students, sponsors, and past members. We could not be where we are today without the tireless efforts of EC Brock, Les Brock, and Jarrell Whitfill and their welding skills. They have spent more than a couple days off to make the improvements you have seen in the arena. Kenny Crim and Curtis Vance have donated their time doing electrical jobs in the arena. Others that need recognition for their tireless efforts and hard work are Yancy, Dorothy, and Samantha Goodwin, Gary Bronaugh of the Trinity Team, Audrey Brown of the Grapevine Team, Melody Gersbach of the Peaster Team, Melody's daughter, Emily and one of the Peaster's young members, Leslie (sorry, last name unknown). There are more work days scheduled, so if you would like to help, please check the North Texas website or call the office for more information. We can use all the help we can get.

There are a few projects in the works right now. We are attempting to get a cement ramp installed at the south end of the bleachers for easier access to those with strollers, walkers or wheelchairs. We are working on replacing the wooden light poles near the medic shack with metal light standards. We are getting bids on new bucking chutes and would like to have them replaced and would also like to have stairs and a catwalk built behind the announcer's booth so that nobody would have to cross the alleyway during barrels and poles. The "Fire Suppressor System" in the concession stand has to be updated by January. If anybody has knowledge in this area, please contact the North Texas office.

We are asking for your help in keeping the area clear just south of the warm-up area. There have been a couple of occasions where emergency vehicles were blocked and could not get through.

If you are somebody you know can donate floor tile for the pavilion bathrooms, boardroom and secretary's office, please let us know. We need labor and supplies.

And last but not least, there are still many opportunities to advertise at NTHSRA. If you know of a business that would like to buy advertising space, please have them contact the North Texas office ans somebody from the Advertising and Sponsorship Committee will be happy to contact them.

Thank you!
Doyle Brown

QUEEN'S CORNER
I owe Miss Hannah Meeks a huge apology. She wrote me an article to go in this newsletter and I stuck it in my blue jeans and promptly washed it. So next month, Hannah, you can have 1/2 a page to tell everyone all the awesome things you are doing as Miss NTHSRA. I am very sorry, Hannah, that I washed your article. By the way, you are doing a great job!

THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS

Because everyone here at North Texas is like one big family and we care about what goes on with one another, the Public Relations Committee would like to introduce a new section to this year's Pony Express. This section "Thoughts and Prayers" is open to any and all that we would like to remind each other to keep in our daily thoughts and prayers for whatever reason. If you have someone that you would like to mention and remind us to say an extra prayer or two for, please contact the Public Relations Committee. If at all possible, we encourage you to please seek permission from those you are asking us to remember!

Since this is new, the Public Relations Committee would like to remind everyone to please remember to continue to pray over North Texas and all who enter through it's gates!
