September 2007 Issue
It's official!!! The North Texas High School Rodeo Association 2007-2008 Season is underway. The NTHSRA office is proud to announce that we are 330 members strong at this time. This is up 15 members from this time last year! From the looks of things, it's like we never took a break!!! Competition was fierce. It's obvious that there has been some serious training over the summer. With all the familiar faces and a few new ones, we had better hold on tight because this year is going to be unbelievable!

We would like to thank the LD Bell/Trinity Rodeo Teams for being the host team for our season kick off. These two teams worked hard to make the first rodeo of the season a success. The Board of Directors would personally like to thank them for the extra work that they put into cleaning our facility. It looks like the challenge is on for the rest of the host teams to please follow suit! Remember, this is your facility so keep it clean.

If you have not received your 2007-2008 Rulebook, please get one as soon as possible. There are some rule changes that everyone needs to be aware of. All new rule changes are in BOLD print. Please note that, stapled to the inside cover of your rulebook, is the new report card schedule.
The Public Relations Committee would like to wish everyone well this season and encourage each and every one of you to please get involved. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the NTHSRA office or any of the Board of Directors.

COMMITTEE CONNECTIONS

This is a new addition to our newsletter this year. The Committees within NTHSRA would like to keep you informed of upcoming clinics and meetings. This is a very vital link in keeping everyone on top of things within our NT family.

Sponsors Committee: Linda Brock would like to announce that there is going to be a Sponsors' School for all sponsors who missed the first school on September 6, 2007. This will be held in the NT building at 7:00 pm. This is a great learning opportunity for new sponsors!

Public Relations Committee: Kay Sanderson is holding the next Public Relations meeting on Thursday, September 20, 2007. It will be held in the Boardroom at 7:00 pm. If you have any connections with local newspapers, radio or television stations, please get with Kay. She sure would like to put NTHSRA in the "Spot Light"!

Barrels and Poles Committee: Helen Wilson is announcing a Barrel Clinic on October 16, 2007 at the NTHSRA arena. It will begin at 6:00 pm sharp! You must provide your NTHSRA Membership Card along with your Coggins. Rudibaugh Horse Training/Valerie Rudibaugh will give this clinic. For more information contact the NTHSRA Office or the NTHSRA website. Helen is working on setting a date for a Pole Clinic. She hopes to have the details on our website soon.

Roughstock Committee: Kenny Crim would like all Bareback and Saddle Bronc riders to keep an eye on the NT website. He is working with Chris Harris to nail down a date for a 2-day clinic in both Bareback and Saddle Bronc. Please note that this both a fundamental and hands-on clinic. You must attend the first class to be able to participate in the second class. You must provide your NTHSRA Membership Card to attend. Come prepared to learn!

Calves & Steers Committee: David Isham is working hard to "pen" down some dates for roping clinics as well as steer wrestling, steer undecorating and chute dogging clinics. Please keep an eye on the website for further details.

Goats Committee: Jote Rudibaugh is in the works to make this year's goat tying clinic even more exciting and informative than last year's. Dates to follow!

QUEEN'S CORNER

Hello Everyone!
The Trinity/LD Bell Rodeo marked the beginning of another incredible rodeo season for all of us here at North Texas! It sure felt nice to be back in the saddle again in Saginaw with all three days packed full of tough competition and smiling faces. But don't worry if you missed the first rodeo, we still have plenty more coming.

Did I tell you that I am a member of the Weatherford Rodeo Team? Well I am! We are going to be hosting the second show of the season this weekend, September 14-15-16. So come on out to Saginaw and bring a friend or two because when more people come to an NTHSRA Rodeo you are guaranteed to have more fun! Remember! We always welcome new members here at NTHSRA with open arms!

Besides doing grand entry at the Trinity/LD Bell Rodeo this past Friday and Saturday, I also had a chance to represent NTHSRA at the Lewisville Western Days Parade and the Lewisville Saddle Club Rodeo as well. The parade was actually led by a herd of Longhorns and although all the children seemed to be fascinated with my horse, Dylan, the parade wasn't limited to just western themes. The diversity went from church groups to bowling teams, cheerleaders to tow trucks, and there was a huge group of dog owners too! The festivities continued all day with western music and entertainment. There was even a Tamale-eating contest! The Saddle Club Rodeo drew a big crowd with Cowgirl Chicks getting everyone excited and eager to cheer on competitors. Overall, Lewisville is a beautiful town that I recommend everyone to go and visit!

NEVER RIDE FASTER THAN YOUR GUARDIAN ANGEL CAN FLY!

"IN THE KNOW"

The Public Relations Committee is working on keeping all lines of communications open here at NTHSRA. In an effort to do so, we have created this section to keep you informed of miscellaneous items within North Texas.
*
The arena is open for rental now. Because of so many people wanting to use the facility, there had to be some guidelines. the Building and Arena Committee has laid out the following:

Monday - Barrels
Tuesday - Poles
Wednesday - Steers

The arena will be closed on Thursdays to allow it to be prepared for the upcoming rodeo. Please check with the Office for rental and other details.
*
Public Relations would like to encourage you to bring in newspaper articles about yourself or your team. We will be placing them on the bulletin board in the building.
*
The Board of Directors would like to encourage everyone to visit our Website. It is an incredible piece of work. Celeta Moyer, our NT Webmaster, single handedly created and maintains this website. If your team has a web page that you would like to link to the NT website, please contact Celeta at admin@richlandrodeo.com  . (She is also the Richland Sponsor.) Keep up the great work Celeta!
*
Miss NTHSRA, Hannah Meeks and the Public Relations Committee would like to invite everyone to participate with us in the Parade of Lights. This is a wonderful parade where everyone and everything is covered in lights. Every year this parade takes place in downtown Fort Worth on the Friday after Thanksgiving. We would like to make this year the largest mounted group! If you or your team/club are interested, please contact Kay Sanderson at (817)480-8685.

THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS

Because everyone here at North Texas is like one big family and we care about what goes on with one another, the Public Relations Committee would like to introduce a new section to this year's Pony Express. This section "Thoughts and Prayers" is open to any and all that we would like to remind each other to keep in our daily thoughts and prayers for whatever reason. If you have someone that you would like to mention and remind us to say an extra prayer or two for, please contact the Public Relations Committee. If at all possible, we encourage you to please seek permission from those you are asking us to remember!

Since this is new, the Public Relations Committee would like to remind everyone to please remember to continue to pray over North Texas and all who enter through it's gates!
